6th Grade Math Students,
If you are having trouble with the larger square root #'s, Use guess and check. First think of squares you know or could find out quickly. We now that the square of 20 is 400. So, the square root of 1,225 is going to be bigger than 20. The square of 100 is 10,000. So, it is going to be between 20 and 100. How about 50? 50 X 50 is 2,500. This means that our answer should be smaller. Try easy numbers to multiply to narrow down the answer.
If the directions for the problem you are working on says to use a calculator, then use a calculator.
I hope this helps!!
